Shooting Stars and CS Sfaxien prepare for CAF Confederation Cup clash

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Tunisian side CS Sfaxien are set to face each other in a CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round first-leg match at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

To motivate the Nigerian team, Isaac Olawale Ifadare Ayangbile, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, has promised the players a ₦10,000 incentive for every goal scored during the encounter. This marks a significant return to continental competition for Shooting Stars, who last appeared in a CAF tournament in 1999.

CS Sfaxien arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday following their departure from Tunis to prepare for the match. Both teams enter the fixture with recent domestic momentum; Shooting Stars secured a 2-1 victory over Inter Lagos in the Nigeria Premier Football League, while CS Sfaxien recently defeated Esperance Zarzis 2-1 in the Tunisian league. The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the next stage of the tournament, with the return leg scheduled to take place in Tunisia on September 13, 2026.
