Shopee and Mercari expand Japanese cross-border e-commerce reach

Shopee Japan reported significant growth for Japanese cross-border sellers during its ‘10.10 Mega Day’ campaign. Total orders for Japanese sellers across seven markets reached 2.8 times the daily average of the second quarter, with Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) increasing 2.7 times. Growth was particularly pronounced in Vietnam, where orders reached approximately 8 times the daily average, and Brazil, where orders exceeded 6 times the daily average.

In both Vietnam and Brazil, the beauty category saw substantial GMV increases. Additionally, sales driven by Shopee Ads and Affiliate Marketing Solutions showed marked rises. Shopee continues to support Japanese sellers through multilingual assistance, seminars, and logistics management tools.

Separately, Mercari Japan is targeting the Taiwanese market with its ‘Double 11 Treasure Hunt Festival’ running from October 27 to November 13, 2026. The campaign includes various discounts and free international shipping on select Saturdays. Mercari has also launched a professional authentication service in Taiwan for items such as trading cards, sneakers, and luxury goods to ensure product authenticity for collectors. The Mercari Global App has surpassed 1 million cumulative downloads.
