Shopee and TikTok Shop face potential high-risk classification under PP Tunas

Nailul Huda, Director of Digital Economy at the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), has suggested that Shopee, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop should be categorized as high-risk platforms under the implementation of PP Tunas.

Huda noted that Shopee and TikTok Shop possess live streaming features that require closer parental supervision to protect children from potentially harmful content. He also indicated that Tokopedia would likely face similar risks due to its integration within the same ecosystem as TikTok Shop.

The high-risk designation does not imply poor service, but rather indicates that these platforms may be less child-friendly and carry higher risks regarding online fraud and payment security. The Ministry of Communication and Digital has previously categorized platforms such as Telegram, Lazada, Blibli, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox as high-risk.
