Shopian Police arrest seven in suspicious meteorite stone transaction

Police in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested seven individuals in connection with a suspicious transaction involving a stone allegedly marketed as a rare and valuable meteorite known as ‘Trath Gola’.

During the investigation, authorities recovered Rs 5,00,000 in cash from the scene, along with a box containing the stone and two vehicles. The arrested individuals include residents from Baramulla, Srinagar, Sopore, Anantnag, and Kulgam.

An FIR has been registered at the Heerpora Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Local police have issued a warning to the public to remain cautious of fraudulent claims regarding rare or precious meteorite stones.
