Shopping Brasília celebrates 50 years in Porto

Shopping Brasília, the first shopping center in the Iberian Peninsula, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this October. Located near the Boavista Rotunda in Porto, the center opened in 1976 and became a major socio-economic landmark.

At its opening, the center's primary attraction was its six escalators, which drew visitors from across Portugal and Spain. The mall was also a pioneer in retail hours, being among the first to operate until midnight, which significantly influenced local labor shifts and commercial paradigms.

To mark the milestone, celebrations will begin on October 9 at 18:00. The festivities include the unveiling of a large-scale mural by artist Mr. Dheo, measuring 10 meters by 6 meters, located at the side entrance of the shopping center.
