Shopping centres in Brazil host sustainability drives and community celebrations

On June 5, Shopping Jardim Oriente in São José dos Campos marked World Environment Day with an environmental awareness campaign. In partnership with the NGO Ensinando Reciclar and local builder Souza Araújo, the centre handed out seed‑embedded pencils to students and provided recycling guidance. The following day the mall organized a food‑drive with Dragões Moto Clube, collecting non‑perishable items for families in need.

Also on June 6, Shopping CDC in São Paulo celebrated the 208th anniversary of the Brás neighbourhood. The event featured a sustainable‑fashion runway showcasing garments made from recycled bottle caps, can seals, newspapers and PET bottles, created by students of the NGO Renaissance. Free services such as haircuts, podiatry and housing‑program information were offered to the public, highlighting the centre's social‑community role.
