Short film festivals and César Award previews announced

Several film industry events are highlighting short cinema and regional heritage. In Paris, the magazine Format Court, in collaboration with ESRA and the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, is launching a new cycle of ‘After Short’ sessions at the ESRA Campus Beaugrenelle. Running from October to December, these events will feature meetings with teams of short films nominated for the 2027 César Awards, covering fiction, animation, and documentary genres.

Meanwhile, the eighth edition of the Court Derrière festival in La Réunion will focus on African and Afro-diasporic cinemas. The 2026 competition features 15 short films representing nine countries and territories, including Madagascar, Burkina Faso, Haiti, and Martinique. The festival aims to promote the transmission of audiovisual memory, featuring guests such as Mohamed Challouf to honor figures like Ousmane Sembène.
