Short-form video strategies for AI-curated social media feeds

The landscape of short-form video is shifting as AI-driven recommendation engines replace traditional follower-based distribution. Platforms like TikTok, Reels, and Shorts now prioritize real-time behavioral signals—such as watch time, completion rates, and shares—over total follower counts. This allows new accounts to achieve massive reach if their content earns immediate engagement.

Effective content strategy now requires addressing technical challenges inherent in repurposing video across different platforms. A major issue is the presence of burned-in captions, which are part of the video pixels and cannot be toggled off. When creators attempt to reuse the same file, these captions often clash with the unique user interfaces of different apps, leading to occlusion, duplication, or visual drift. Successful repurposing requires removing original layers to ensure text remains in the safe zones of each specific platform's layout.
