Short-throw laser projectors emerge as TV alternatives

New short-throw laser projectors are being positioned as viable alternatives to traditional televisions, with several manufacturers showcasing advanced models at IFA 2026. These devices are designed to sit on TV stands and project large images from a short distance, minimizing shadows and space requirements.

Key industry offerings include Hisense’s range of ultra short throw projectors, such as the PX3-PRO and L9Q, which provide varying levels of brightness and image sizes up to 200 inches. Other notable releases include Awol Vision’s LuxVision, which features optical lens shift capabilities and 4K resolution at 120Hz, and Xgimi’s Aura 3 Max, which utilizes a dual-iris optical system to enhance contrast and brightness.

Many of these new models, including those from JMGO, are targeting high-performance gaming and cinema experiences by supporting high refresh rates, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+.
