ShowTime unveils front-engined V8 Porsche 911 stunt car
Gary Reid and the ShowTime team have unveiled the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933, a heavily modified Porsche 911 (Type 996) designed for stunt work. Unveiled at Mount Panorama ahead of the Repco Bathurst 1000, the vehicle features a radical departure from the standard Porsche layout by installing a twin-turbo LS 427 V8 engine in the front.
The extensive rebuild required over 2,000 hours of fabrication to accommodate the new engine placement, including the creation of a new firewall, floor, and transmission tunnel. The car produces more than 1,200 horsepower (895kW) and utilizes an eight-speed Bentley gearbox with sequential shifting.
Key technical features include a custom wide-body kit with handmade aluminum panels, a carbon fiber roof, bonnet, and doors, and a custom race-engineered suspension. The build also incorporates a unique cooling system located behind the passenger compartment and a modified rear access point that effectively converts the coupe into a hatchback.
