Shramoday Vidyalaya students hospitalized after lizard found in food

Thirteen students from Shramoday Vidyalaya in Bhopal, India, were hospitalized after allegedly consuming potato curry contaminated with a lizard. The students, ranging from the sixth to ninth grades, experienced symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea following the meal at their school hostel.

The affected children were treated at JP Hospital, where medical staff reported that their conditions have since stabilized and they are currently in normal health.

School Principal Ratna Dubey attributed the incident to negligence by the canteen operator and has issued a formal notice to the vendor, promising strict action. Meanwhile, parents have expressed anger over the school management's perceived failure to provide timely information regarding their children's health, noting they only learned of the situation through school messaging groups. Local police in Ratibad are investigating the matter.
