Shree Cement targets electric vehicle deployment amid mining electrification trends

Shree Cement Limited has announced plans to commission approximately 100 electric commercial vehicles this year to improve its logistics ecosystem and support India’s clean mobility initiatives. The company is also exploring the electrification of mining equipment, such as dumpers and dozers. In the most recent quarter, Shree Cement reported that renewable energy accounted for 66% of its total energy mix, up from 61%.

Parallel to corporate adoption, industry experts emphasize that successful mine electrification depends heavily on robust power infrastructure. Beyond the vehicles themselves, the transition requires significant upgrades to electrical networks, including transformers, substations, and switchgear. Providers note that securing grid connection capacity and conducting power systems studies are critical early steps in managing the different load requirements of electrified mining operations.
