Shree Jagannath Temple faces ritual delays and potential price hikes

The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is facing operational challenges during the start of the holy Kartik month. Rituals experienced significant delays on the first day, including the Radha Damodar Besha, which was completed over an hour late, and the Baladhupa ritual, which was delayed by more than three hours. These delays prevented the scheduled Dibapahuda daytime rest ritual from occurring and postponed the availability of Mahaprasad at Anand Bazaar until approximately 5 pm.

Separately, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is discussing a possible price revision for Abadha Mahaprasad due to the rising costs of essential ingredients. Increased prices for rice, pulses, vegetables, and ghee have placed financial pressure on the Suara Mahasuara Nijog, the body representing the servitors responsible for food preparation. SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee stated that the administration is seeking to keep the sacred offerings affordable for devotees despite these rising input costs.
