Shreveport firefighter Zachary Fox reinstated after drug test dispute
The Shreveport Police and Fire Civil Service Board has voted 4-3 to reinstate firefighter Zachary Fox with full pay. Fox had been terminated following a failed random drug test while operating a fire engine. During the proceedings, city officials received reprimands for failing to meet subpoena deadlines for documents requested by Fox’s legal team on at least three occasions.
While Fox claimed his urine sample was tampered with, no direct evidence was provided to support that assertion. Following the ruling, Fire Chief Clarence Reese Jr. stated he would immediately order another drug test for Fox.
In a separate matter, Shreveport Fire Captain Felicia Scroggins has been granted an additional 180 days of leave to recover from surgery. Scroggins is currently involved in a dispute with the city regarding discrimination claims and new physical agility requirements for a training officer position she is interviewing for.
