Shreveport woman arrested for alleged cruelty to a juvenile

Shreveport Police have arrested Britannica Young on charges of cruelty to a juvenile following an investigation into the abuse of her 10-year-old son. The incident was brought to light after a teacher at an elementary school on Youree Drive noticed visible injuries on the child, who has special needs.

Officers observed marks on the boy's arms and ears. According to investigators from the Shreveport Police Department Juvenile Services Division, Young admitted to using a belt to strike the child as punishment for behavioral issues at school. The investigation involved cooperation between the police, Child Protective Services, and the Caddo Parish School Board.
