Shreveport woman arrested for allegedly aiding fugitive

Authorities in Caddo Parish have arrested 28-year-old Mikhala Duncan for allegedly assisting Tre'veon Jackson during his week-long manhunt after he escaped from custody. Duncan faces a charge of accessory to simple escape.

Investigators believe Jackson contacted Duncan following his escape, resulting in at least two secret meetings in Texas. Duncan reportedly admitted to detectives that she was aware Jackson was a fugitive when she traveled to meet him. On the night Jackson was apprehended in Marshall, Texas, Duncan was allegedly present with their child.

Jackson originally escaped while being transported to Ochsner/LSU Health for a medical evaluation. Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. stated that proper protocols were not followed during the transport, noting that Jackson was not adequately restrained and was accompanied by only one deputy. The Sheriff's Office is currently reviewing and tightening policies to prevent future incidents.
