Shropshire Council delays parking tariff review

Shropshire Council has postponed a review of parking tariffs for its off-street car parks and on-street bays. The discussion, originally slated for September, will now go before the local authority’s Cabinet in October. This delay is intended to allow officials more time to evaluate how proposed changes will impact residents, businesses, and visitors.

The review aims to balance budget constraints with the goals of the county’s Local Transport Plan, which includes reducing traffic congestion and promoting sustainable transport. The council noted that rising operational expenses and insufficient central government funding have necessitated the exploration of alternative revenue streams to protect local transport services.
