Shruti Deshpande discusses working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Actress Shruti Deshpande has shared her experiences working alongside actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the theatre production ‘Naqaab’. Deshpande praised Siddiqui as an exceptional artist who consistently brings novelty and uniqueness to his work.

Reflecting on a performance in Chicago, Deshpande recounted a technical issue where Siddiqui’s microphone failed, causing audience frustration. To manage the situation, Siddiqui had to project his voice loudly, while Deshpande adjusted her own vocal levels to support him. Deshpande noted that her experience in theatre allowed her to improvise and help manage the technical glitch and brief interruption until the microphone could be repaired backstage.

Deshpande highlighted the fundamental difference between film and theatre, noting that while film allows for retakes, theatre requires performers to manage technical problems and audience reactions in real-time without breaking character.
