SHS students utilize online courses to manage scheduling conflicts
Students and counselors at SHS are navigating various academic scheduling challenges. Some students are turning to online courses to circumvent limitations in the school’s Program of Studies. For example, due to scheduling conflicts and lab requirements, students interested in advanced physics have utilized external providers like VHS Learning or institutions such as Harvard Extension School to complete necessary coursework.
Concurrently, the school has faced logistical issues regarding class placements and timing. Students have reported errors such as being enrolled in incorrect subjects or having multiple classes scheduled for the same period. These discrepancies have required significant intervention from the counseling department, which manages adjustments for large groups of students to ensure academic requirements are met.
