Suvendu Adhikari warns of crackdown on anti-national elements at Jadavpur University

West Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari has issued a stern warning regarding the political climate at Jadavpur University, stating, “Either they will remain, or we will.” Speaking at a rally in South Kolkata, Adhikari criticized the presence of slogans deemed anti-national, specifically targeting ‘Azadi’ (freedom) chants and murals honoring the late Maoist leader Kishanji.

Adhikari accused certain student factions and left-wing elements of attempting to create an environment hostile to nationalism. He questioned the intent behind slogans regarding Kashmir and Palestine, suggesting that such rhetoric undermines the country's integrity. He further alleged that political dominance by left-wing groups has historically alienated students from Indian culture and heritage.

Drawing parallels to his past political actions in Nandigram and Jangalmahal, Adhikari vowed to eliminate what he described as anti-national influences within the university. He also addressed allegations of political pressure on hostel students and criticized the influence of previous administrations on the institution's academic and political culture.
