Shubman Gill and Shafali Verma win ICC Player of the Month awards

Indian cricketers Shubman Gill and Shafali Verma have been named the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for September 2026, respectively.

Shubman Gill secured his record-extending fifth Men’s Player of the Month award following a historic performance in a series against the West Indies. During the ODI series, Gill scored 334 runs across two matches. In the second ODI in Guwahati, he recorded an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls, setting the record for the fastest double century in ODI history (117 balls) and the fastest century by an Indian captain in the format (62 balls). His performance contributed to the highest individual score in a successful ODI chase.

Shafali Verma claimed the Women’s Player of the Month title, marking her second career monthly honor. She secured the award ahead of teammate Sree Charani and Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu.
