Shubman Gill responds to questions regarding India's T20I series

Indian Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill recently went viral for his witty response to reporters asking about India's T20I preparations for the upcoming series against the West Indies. When questioned about the team's planning, Gill remarked, ‘T20? Main toh hu hi nahi’ (T20? I am not even in it), highlighting his current exclusion from the shortest format squad.

Gill has not been part of the T20I setup since late 2025. His omission follows a period of lower scoring in the format, where he struggled to maintain the dominance seen in his Test and ODI performances. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar previously cited the need for different team combinations and additional wicketkeeper-batting options as reasons for his absence from the T20I squad.

The five-match T20I series against the West Indies is scheduled to begin on October 6, 2026, in Lucknow, with Shreyas Iyer leading the Indian side.
