Shudder acquires Finnish horror-comedy ‘Red Snow’

The horror-comedy film ‘Red Snow’ has been acquired by the streaming service Shudder following its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.

Set in Finland, the film follows Johanna, a 16-year-old teenager whose romanticized fantasies of vampire princes turn into a nightmare when she encounters Martti, a 49-year-old vampire. Disguised as Santa Claus to gain access to homes, Martti preys on families, turning Christmas Eve into a violent ordeal.

Written and directed by Ilja Rautsi, known for his work on ‘Hatching’ and ‘Nightborn’, the film is described as a wild and original genre piece. The cast includes Hannu-Pekka Björkman and Anni Iikkanen. While a specific release date on Shudder has not yet been announced, the acquisition aims to bring the unique holiday horror to a wider genre-loving audience.
