Shuto Orizare child attacked by stray dog
An 18-month-old child, Jasin Mustafa, was attacked and bitten by a stray dog in the yard of his family home in Shuto Orizare. According to the family, the dog entered the yard while they were on the terrace. When the mother attempted to chase the animal away, it lunged at the child, causing injuries to the face, ear, and body.
The child was immediately taken to a medical facility and received a rabies vaccine. Medical documentation indicates the case was recorded as a dog bite (ICD-10: W54), and doctors have recommended continued doses and anti-rabies serum.
The family has reported the incident to the police and engaged lawyer Emran Ismail, who stated intentions to file a lawsuit against the City of Skopje. This incident highlights ongoing issues with aggressive stray dogs in the region. Reports indicate that in 2025 alone, the City of Skopje has paid approximately 750,000 euros in damages related to dog bites. While the city administration claims recent measures have reduced the number of lawsuits compared to previous years, the public utility JP Lajka currently faces capacity issues with more dogs than available shelter space.
