Sia sells 50% stake in music catalog for $180 million
Australian singer-songwriter Sia has reportedly sold a 50% stake in her music catalog to the Swedish entertainment investment company Pophouse for $180 million. The deal implies a total catalog valuation of approximately $360 million.
The catalog includes Sia’s own global hits such as ‘Chandelier’, ‘Cheap Thrills’, ‘Elastic Heart’, and ‘Unstoppable’, as well as songs she co-wrote for artists like Rihanna, Beyoncé, and David Guetta.
Details of the transaction emerged through court documents related to Sia’s ongoing divorce from Dan Bernad. Of the $180 million, $165 million is tied to music written before her marriage; Bernad reportedly agreed to waive claims to this portion in exchange for a $1 million payment. The remaining $15 million, related to music created during the marriage, is being held in escrow pending a division agreement between the former couple.
