Sibaritide Hospital: Inquiry launched over nuclear medicine status

Rosellina Madeo, Vice President of the Health Commission for the Calabria Region, has filed a formal inquiry regarding the future of nuclear medicine at the new Sibaritide Hospital in Corigliano Calabro.

Madeo is seeking clarity on whether the activation of nuclear medicine and PET-TC services will coincide with the hospital's opening, as previously outlined in regional decree DCA n. 80/2024. The inquiry specifically requests updates on the progress of public tenders for the purchase, installation, and testing of high-tech diagnostic equipment, including scintigraphic diagnostics.

The concern centers on the hospital's ability to become a center of excellence. While a specialized bunker has already been constructed in the basement and funds have been allocated, Madeo noted a lack of certainty regarding the acquisition of the first cyclotron in Calabria, which would be a significant advancement for cancer therapies in the region.
