Sibiu Power Outage Disrupts Hospital Services and Hundreds of Streets
A major electricity outage struck the city of Sibiu and surrounding localities on Friday, leaving dozens of streets without power. The disruption affected the Sibiu County Emergency Hospital, where the radiology department was temporarily halted because of its high electricity demand. Hospital officials said emergency medical services continued according to existing procedures and apologized for the inconvenience.
The electricity provider, Distribuție Energie Electrică România, attributed the outage to a technical defect and said repair teams were on site, but gave no estimate for restoration. Affected localities include Şura Mare, Şlimnic and Hamba, as well as multiple streets within the municipal area of Sibiu.
