Sibiu's Valea Aurie district explores local history through archival photography

The Valea Aurie branch of the ASTRA Library in Sibiu hosted an event as part of the ‘Your Neighborhood Museum’ project, showcasing the historical evolution of the Valea Aurie district.

Participants viewed archival photographs provided by the Brukenthal National Museum, which highlighted vanished buildings, historic streets, and landmarks such as Sub Arini Park, the Zoo, and the old Dumbrava Inn. The presentation noted significant local milestones, including the inauguration of Romania’s first electric-lit park in 1905 and its first zoo in 1929.
