Siblings Boadzer and Tietsje maintain weekly swimming routine

Boadzer Bruining, 89, and his sister Tietsje Weening-Bruining, 74, maintain a dedicated routine of swimming five mornings a week at the De Wettervlecke outdoor pool in Surhuisterveen.

While their physical capabilities have changed over the years—with Boadzer noting he no longer performs crawls or dives—the siblings continue to swim several laps together. Beyond the physical health benefits, they emphasize the importance of the social aspect of their routine. They describe the community at the pool as being like a family, noting that the social contact and the opportunity to share memories and stories are vital parts of their experience.
