Siblings in Konya regain hearing through cochlear implants
Two siblings, Ayşegül and Yusuf Emre Aydın, have regained the ability to hear following cochlear implant surgeries at Konya City Hospital in Turkey. Born with hearing impairments, the siblings were unable to undergo the procedure during childhood due to financial constraints and concerns regarding surgical risks.
After being located by their brother, Mustafa Aydın, the siblings underwent surgery performed by ENT specialist Dr. Erkun Tuncer. Approximately ten months after the procedure, the siblings have begun to hear speech and are undergoing ongoing speech therapy to further develop their communication skills. While they cannot yet hear whispers, they have reached a level where they can perceive spoken language.
