SIC announces cast for ‘Avenida Portugal’ adaptation

The Portuguese television network SIC has announced key casting details for its upcoming production, ‘Avenida Portugal’. The series is a Portuguese adaptation of the acclaimed Brazilian telenovela ‘Avenida Brasil’.

Actor Ricardo Pereira has been confirmed to play the character Tufão, a role originally portrayed by Murilo Benício in the Brazilian version. Joining him is José Condessa, who will play Jorginho, the son of Tufão. The cast also includes Madalena Almeida, who will portray Débora, Jorginho’s girlfriend and a central figure in the plot involving characters such as Carminha and Nina.

Other confirmed cast members include Ana Sofia Martins, Afonso Pimentel, and Sara Matos. The production is expected to premiere next year, following SIC’s recent work on the adaptation of ‘Páginas da Vida’. There are indications that the series may also be made available on the Globo Play streaming platform.
