Sicario 3 to reunite original cast Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin

The original lead cast of the Sicario franchise is set to reunite for the third installment, Sicario 3. Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin have all signed on to reprise their roles as Kate Macer, Alejandro Gillick, and Matt Graver.

This marks a significant return for Blunt, who was absent from the 2018 sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado. The project features a shift in creative leadership; Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, has taken over screenwriting duties from Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the first two films. Padraic McKinley has been selected to direct the film, following a selection process that included input from the lead actors.

Production is expected to begin in early 2027. The film is being produced by Black Label Media and Thunder Road. While the previous two films were distributed by Lionsgate, the producers intend to shop the third installment to various studios to secure a distribution deal.
