Sichuan doctors remove 248 gallstones from 26-year-old man

Doctors at Sichuan Gallstone Hospital in China successfully performed emergency laparoscopic surgery on a 26-year-old man, removing 248 gallstones from his gallbladder.

The patient, identified as Giang, experienced sudden, severe abdominal pain that radiated to his back and shoulders, leading to a critical condition. Medical examinations revealed that his gallbladder was completely filled with stones of various sizes, causing a total blockage of bile. Additionally, his blood lipid levels were found to be five times higher than the normal threshold.

Medical professionals noted that the condition posed an immediate risk of acute inflammation, gallbladder necrosis, or perforation, which could have led to peritonitis, sepsis, and death. The patient attributed his condition to dietary habits common among young people.
