Sichuan province earthquake hits Yibin city

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Yibin in China's Sichuan province on Monday. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the tremor occurred in Changning County at 08:26 local time.

The epicenter was recorded at coordinates 28.32 degrees north latitude and 105.01 degrees east longitude. As of the latest reports, there is no immediate information regarding casualties, structural damage, or the depth of the epicenter.

This event follows a period of increased seismic activity in the region. Yibin has recorded several tremors over the past two months, including a 4.9 magnitude quake in Gao County on August 7, and two earthquakes measuring 4.8 and 4.2 on August 3. Additionally, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake on June 29 resulted in at least 15 injuries and damage to approximately 900 homes.
