Sicilian business groups urge regional assembly to approve industry protections
Labor unions and industrial organizations in Sicily are calling on the Sicilian Regional Assembly (Ars) to approve legislative amendments aimed at protecting local businesses and workers. In the printing and glass sectors, groups including Filctem Cgil, Uiltec, and Sicindustria Trapani are urging the passage of an amendment to bill 1200. This measure seeks to incentivize the use of Sicilian-made products and packaging with high recycled content, following a previous rejection by the regional government.
Simultaneously, the CNA Trapani is appealing for the support of a budget amendment to allocate 20 million euros to ensure the financial coverage of the ‘Più Artigianato’ program through the end of 2026. The program, which supports investments in innovation and competitiveness for artisanal businesses, currently faces a funding gap. Advocates warn that without this intervention, the continuity of support for Sicilian companies could be interrupted, potentially impacting ongoing investments and new projects.
