Sicilian cultural heritage promoted through museums and digital media
Cultural initiatives in Sicily are focusing on the preservation and modernization of regional identity. The Museo Civico di Niscemi, housed in a former Franciscan monastery, serves as a repository for local history, ranging from peasant civilization to the natural biodiversity of central-southern Sicily. The museum is part of the ANCI Sicilia Museum Network, aiming to provide inclusive and multisensorial access to the territory's heritage.
Simultaneously, the digital magazine ‘Amuninni!’ is working to promote the Sicilian language as a living identity. Curated by Gaetano Mocciaro and supported by the Accademia della Lingua Siciliana and AUCLIS, the publication offers content translated into Italian, English, Spanish, and French. The magazine includes audio readings and multilingual quizzes to assist both native speakers and international enthusiasts in studying the language.
