Sicilian police crack down on nightlife violations in Cefalù and Niscemi

In the coastal town of Cefalù, the Polizia di Stato deployed an integrated control operation involving road police, canine units, scientific police, carabinieri, financial police and local authorities. Over seven checkpoints, 67 people were inspected, including 17 with prior police records, and 32 vehicles were checked. Seven traffic fines were issued, three individuals were identified for drug use and a small personal‑use quantity of hashish (about 4 g) was seized after a drug‑sniffing dog signaled a concealed packet.

Meanwhile, in the inland town of Niscemi, police together with the labour inspectorate, SIAN and SIAE carried out summer‑time checks on nightlife venues. The owner of a pub was fined for occupying the sidewalk without permission, failing to display employee work‑hour notices and lacking a SIAE licence for background music. A DJ set was also penalised for holding an event without municipal authorisation and for not providing the required acoustic impact assessment. These actions are part of a broader provincial plan to extend similar controls throughout Caltanissetta to ensure public order and safety during the summer season.
