Sicilian legislator warns of 31 stalled welfare and disability bills
Ignazio Abbate, President of the I Institutional Affairs Commission, has raised an alarm regarding 31 legislative proposals currently stalled by the Sicilian Regional Government. These bills, some of which have been pending since 2023, have already received bipartisan approval from parliamentary commissions but remain stuck due to delays in technical reports or financial coverage assessments.
The stalled legislation covers a wide range of critical sectors, including disability assistance, gender pay equality, environmental protections, tourism, sports, and local police administration. Abbate stated that given the current economic availability of the regional government, there is no valid excuse for the lack of financial coverage and urged the administration to make these measures available to the Assembly for a final vote.
