Sicilian theater productions highlight social themes in Torretta and Carini
Various theatrical productions are being staged across Sicily as part of local cultural initiatives. In Torretta, the cultural circle Il Mediterraneo presented “Nei vicoli senza tempo,” a comedy written by Cataldo Russo. The play explores the lives of elderly residents in Southern Italy, addressing themes of tradition, unemployment, and emigration.
In Carini, the Villa Belvedere Amphitheater is scheduled to host a performance of Edoardo Scarpetta’s “Miseria e nobiltà” on August 21. Directed by Franco Zappalà, the production is part of the “Anfiteatro del Golfo 2026” festival and uses satirical humor to examine the social divide between the wealthy and the poor.
