SiciliAntica regional branch receives merit award for cultural activities

The regional branch of SiciliAntica covering Assoro, Leonforte, and Nissoria has received a regional merit award. The recognition was presented during the association's annual Presidents' Assembly in Termini Imerese, marking the organization's 30th anniversary.

The award honors the branch for achieving the highest number of members at the regional level for the 2026 social year and for the high quality of its cultural initiatives. Established in January 2025, the branch has grown to over 130 members. Key activities include the “Scoprire il passato” participatory archaeology campaign, which focuses on stratigraphic investigations and the study of crypts and underground environments at the Church of Santa Caterina in Assoro, supported by the Superintendency of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Enna.
