Sicily and Elba address regional challenges in local summits

In Sicily, the Regional Government and ANCI Sicilia have launched an 'Agenda Against Depopulation' to support approximately 210 municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. Regional Councilor for Public Function Francesca Garigliano emphasized that the strategy focuses on addressing demographic decline, insufficient financial resources, and staff shortages through increased cooperation and networking between local administrations.

On the island of Elba, the Association of Hoteliers held an assembly to discuss tourism, urban planning, and transport. Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi highlighted a proposed 66 million euro government fund for small islands to repurpose abandoned public buildings. Additionally, Regional Councilor Filippo Boni addressed requests for urban planning derogations for coastal structures built before 1985 and announced the creation of a technical working group to resolve transport issues, specifically the misalignment between train and ferry schedules.
