Sicily celebrates culinary heritage at Sicilian Experience event
The second edition of the ‘Sicilian Experience’ was held to celebrate the island’s culinary and cultural heritage, following Sicily’s designation as the ‘European Region of Gastronomy 2025’. The event included a press conference at Villa Boscogrande and a scientific conference at the Sicilian Regional Assembly (ARS) titled ‘Educating on the Sicilian Experience’.
The conference focused on the educational and identity-driven value of regional gastronomy, featuring contributions from academics, chefs, and health and culture professionals. The discussions explored the transition of regional products from Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) status toward potential UNESCO recognition.
The celebration concluded with a large-scale event at Villa Boscogrande, attended by over one thousand guests and forty chefs. The initiative was organized by executive chef Giovanni Porretto and chef patron Natale Di Maria, in collaboration with Euro-Toques Italia, Innova Adv, and Idimed APS.
