Sicily courts hand down prison sentences for violent crimes

A 38‑year‑old man from Avola was sentenced by the Court of Appeal in Catania to two years and eight months in prison for family abuse, aggravated injuries and threats committed between 2020 and 2024. He was ordered to serve his term at the Cavadonna prison in Siracusa.

A 43‑year‑old man was convicted by the Tribunal of Ragusa for a November 2025 armed robbery of an Intesa Sanpaolo branch in Comiso. Threatening the branch director with a pair of scissors, he obtained only €250 before being apprehended. He received a sentence of two years and eight months in prison.
