Sicily crime surge: ATM explosions and kidnapping reported in Siracusa

A series of violent criminal incidents has been reported in the province of Siracusa, Sicily. In Lentini, an explosion targeting an ATM at the Banca Agricola Popolare di Sicilia branch on via Vittorio Emanuele caused significant damage to the facility and nearby parked vehicles. Gabriele Urzì of the Fabi union described the event as a public security emergency, noting that four such ATM explosions have occurred in the Siracusa province within a single month.

In a separate incident, an entrepreneur in the Siracusa area was kidnapped and robbed. Two assailants, one armed with a pistol and another with a screwdriver, entered the victim's home and forced him to drive to his own agency. After finding little money in the cash register, the perpetrators returned the victim to his villa, ransacked the premises, and fled with a watch and small amounts of cash. An investigation into the kidnapping and robbery is currently underway.
