Mimmo Turano meets Sicilian school principals to discuss funding and welfare

Mimmo Turano, the Sicilian Regional Assessor for Education and Vocational Training, has conducted a series of meetings with school principals in Ragusa and Siracusa to mark the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.

The tour, organized by the Sicilian Region and the Regional School Office (USR Sicilia), focuses on gathering feedback and assessing educational initiatives implemented over the last four years. Key topics of discussion include increasing resources for school operating funds, addressing educational poverty and dropout rates, and improving student emotional well-being.

Additional priorities identified during the meetings include energy efficiency in school buildings, addiction prevention through the @LabSchool project, and support measures for women and minors from organized crime backgrounds under the ‘Liberi di scegliere’ law. The discussions aim to inform the upcoming General States of Education scheduled for October in Palermo.
