Sicily expands renewable energy capacity through new solar projects

Sicily is seeing significant advancements in renewable energy infrastructure through two distinct solar power developments.

In Santo Stefano Quisquina, the agro-industrial company AQua Vera has completed a new 536 kWp photovoltaic installation on its facility rooftops. This project, executed by engineering firm Exalto and co-financed by the Parco Agrisolare fund, brings the site's total installed capacity to 1,035 kWp. The initiative utilizes existing built surfaces to increase renewable energy self-consumption and reduce CO2 emissions without consuming additional agricultural land.

Separately, a 25 MW photovoltaic plant project is moving forward in the Castellammare del Golfo area. GC Castellammare S.r.l., a project company of Qair Italia, secured approximately 22 million euros in project financing to construct the facility. The financing was structured by Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies and involves multiple entities from the Crédit Agricole group.
