Sicily hosts agricultural events in Bagheria and Acireale
Sicily is hosting several events focused on organic agriculture, biodiversity, and local food traditions. In Bagheria, the ‘Bio in Sicily’ exhibition has launched at Villa Palagonia and the Sala degli Specchi. The event promotes regional excellence and sustainability, featuring the ‘Bio Village’ agro-food fair, sensory analysis laboratories, and educational activities for children.
A significant highlight in Bagheria is the official launch of the path toward the 2027 International Granita Festival. Originally held in Longarone, the festival, created by Maurizio Valguarnera, has chosen Bagheria as its permanent home. The project includes the establishment of an academy for master gelato makers and an online contest for traditional recipes.
Simultaneously, the ‘I Colori del Gusto’ event is taking place in Acireale. This three-day manifestation focuses on Sicilian agro-food excellence through show cooking, masterclasses, and scientific discussions. Key topics include the importance of lemon cultivation in the Mediterranean, the characteristics of the Etna IGP Lemon, and the potential of tropical fruits and local crops like the Cavolo Trunzo delle Aci.
