Sicily hosts street food festivals and charity culinary events

The eighth edition of the Messina Street Food Fest has commenced in Piazza Cairoli, running until October 18. The event features regional culinary specialties and master brewers. Inaugurated by local officials, including Messina Mayor Federico Basile and University Rector Giovanna Spatari, the festival aims to promote local economy and social cohesion through food culture.

In a separate culinary event in Catania, chef Antonino Buffa, known as Nino ‘u Ballerino, participated in the ‘Doniamoci Fundraising 2026’ charity initiative held on October 5. The event brought together various Sicilian chefs and catering professionals to raise funds for vulnerable groups in the territory, utilizing traditional street food to support social causes.
