Sicily introduces tax incentives to attract new residents

The Sicilian regional government has established the procedures for implementing tax incentives designed to attract new residents and professionals from abroad or returning emigrants. Under the 2026 Regional Stability Law, eligible individuals can receive a refund of 50 percent of their regional Irpef tax, capped at 100,000 euros per year for a period of three years.

The incentive percentage increases to 60 percent for those who purchase real estate or perform specific construction work in Sicilian municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants and transfer their tax domicile there. Regional President Renato Schifani stated the measure aims to strengthen Sicily’s ability to attract talent and generate positive economic impacts, specifically targeting young professionals and digital nomads.
