Sicily marks religious and cultural heritage with events in Milazzo and Palermo

On September 15, several religious and cultural commemorations will take place in Sicily. In Milazzo, the 'Milazzo Sacra' project, promoted by the local section of Italia Nostra, will inaugurate new informative plaques at the Chiesa dell’Addolorata. These plaques feature multilingual QR codes designed to provide historical and artistic context for the building's artworks, aiming to transform the church into a narrative space for the community's identity.

In Palermo, the Frati Minori Conventuali will hold a Holy Mass at the Madonna Addolorata chapel on via Matteo Carnalivari. The service commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary Addolorata and holds special significance as the location where the Venerable Fra Luigi Lo Verde lived his final months. Lo Verde, a Franciscan religious who died in 1932 at age 21, is recognized by the Church as a witness of youthful holiness.
